How the calculation works

Stock volume = (Target concentration × Target volume) ÷ Stock concentration. Remaining volume is diluent to reach final volume.

Stock volume = (Target conc × Target volume) ÷ Stock conc

Formula used by this tool — verify units before applying at the bedside.

Worked example

Target 10 mg/mL × 50 mL from 100 mg/mL stock: need 5 mL stock + 45 mL diluent.
