What Is Ear Pain?

Patients may say “earache,” “blocked ear,” or “deep ear pain.” The same words can describe uncomplicated middle ear infection, canal inflammation, barotrauma, or referred pain from the throat or jaw—so nursing focus is pattern recognition, safety netting, and escalation, not labeling a single disease at the bedside.
