What Is Knee Pain?

Knee pain is discomfort localized to the patellofemoral region, medial or lateral joint line, or periarticular structures around the knee. It may reflect intra-articular pathology (meniscus, cartilage, synovium), ligament or tendon injury, bursitis, crystal or septic arthritis, fracture, or referred symptoms from the hip or lumbar spine.
